You could state it as a compound but "komputilprogramisto" is an awfully long word, so maybe you'd want to use a hyphen- komputil-programisto. If you wish to separate the words "programisto de komputiloj" works best. At any rate "komputilo programisto" is incorrect.

The word's perfectly fine, but I suppose words can at times get a bit too long for comfort...The other suggestions in this thread are also good:
