Interesting; who translated the new testament? I have an app on my phone with the whole thing for reading side-by-side with the English translation I have (no idea which one it is). The old testament is very interesting compared to the english translations; I think Z did a lot more authentic translations from the originals.

Do you mind if I ask which app?

[...] ... It is not about a Zamenhof text, but a collective work, which, according to notification provided by prof. Downes, is still not satisfied with the Biblical Committee. [...] The Committee members had actually a translation done by several English priests and already published in 1912 ...Source: Lingvo kaj Vivo, de Gaston Waringhien, page 286.

I haven't seen any sites dedicated to Esperanto "religious fiction". I have downloaded the Bible in Esperanto, however, and I enjoy reading how passages I am familiar with are rendered in Esperanto. Your decision to disregard or disbelieve something does not make it a work of fiction.

Regarding the Bible as Esperanto literature: Yes, the Bible is available in Esperanto, and it's fascinating to see the decidedly Jewish slant that Zamenhof leaned toward in his rendition of various passages of the Old Testament--not to mention, it's well worth reading those renditions to capture the Esperanto style that the master originator of the language used. I read it often and thoroughly enjoy it!

Surely one needn't be religious to appreciate the Bible on its aesthetic merits. I view it as an epic with elements of collage, - one of the greatest literary artworks. From that perspective, it is fascinating to see how Zamenhof treats the text, his choice of words and nuances ...

Wasn't there another translation of the Old Testament into EO? Or was that just New Testament?
