En la dua frazo, pli bonus "kiuj estis gravedaj per pluvo" aux "gravedantaj per pluvo".

Joseph-o parkis sian aŭton kaj malfermis sian pordon. Paŝante eksteren sur la pavimon, li iris ĉirkaŭ al la trunko.
(By the way, does pavement here mean pavimo or trotuaro?)
My problem here with paŝante eksteren is that he didn't go around to the trunk while stepping out - 'kaj paŝinte eksteren' would be OK. Or you could just avoid any participle.
Josefo parkis la aŭton, malfermis la pordon, elpaŝis sur la pavimon/trotuaron kaj ĉirkaŭiris al la kofrujo.

Btw if you want to translate the sound of Joseph, it has to be "ĝosef" and not "jozef". "ĝozef", max, if you really pronounce that s as a z (I don't).
It is not customary to add arbitrary -o to the end of someone's name. The usual thing is to either translate it fully into Esperanto ( "Jozefo" ) or to leave it as it is, like "Joseph iris al la vendejo".
