Is there a direct translation for "up" in Esperanto? The only item la vortaro came up with was "supre" but this seemed just to describe location in terms of other locations. If you meant to say "up" (the direction) would you use "supre"?

The -n accusative ending can also be added to certain adverbs to show movement. So if by 'up' you mean 'in an upwards direction', you can use supren.

If you just wanted simple "up", opposite of "down", then "supre" is the right word.
I know what you mean about it being relative but if you think about it, the English word is relative, too. If there is an up, that means that there must also be a down, and down is somewhere below up, right?
Also, you'll find that if you look up "up" in an English dictionary, the definition will be very similar to what you find under "supre" in an Esperanto dictionary.
