A bit of clarification needed.
The Vortaro only says "muzzle", but has "buŝego" also as a translation of muzzle, so I am not sure whether "muzelo" can also apply to an animal. But since "buŝego" is probably not used for a gun, I suppose "muzelo" would have to be.

Well, English sure is a hot mess with this word. "muzzle" can mean quite a few different things.
http://vortaro.net/#muzelo
muzelo. Elstara parto de la kapo de tiuj bestoj, ĉe kiuj la nazo k buŝo elpintiĝas el la facio: muzelo de hundo, de kato, de ezoko.
buŝego =~ faŭko = maw, the mouth of an animal
buŝumo = muzelingo = muzzle, what covers and restrains an animal's snout
The word you're after here is...
http://vortaro.net/#tubo
Longa kava cilindroforma diversmateria ilo, servanta por plej diversaj uzoj: plumba, kaŭĉuka, vitra tubo; tubo de pipo, de trumpeto, de pafilo

Very interesting, thank you!
Buŝego has to do with the mouth, whereas faŭko has to do with the jaws? The vortaro has "maw, jaws" as the definition, so I wonder if "makzeloj" would be similar to "faŭko".
And when you look up "barrel" it has "tubo" for gun, so yep.
