From folk + lore, coined in 1846 by William Thoms to replace terms such as "popular antiquities". Thoms imitated German terms such as Volklehre (“people's customs”) and Volksüberlieferung ("popular tradition")

Roch:VolklehreVolkslehre. Fugen-s for the win. "Volklehre" isn't even a German word in posse, as it doesn't follow the morphological rules. On a side note, Volkslehre means ethnology and not folklore. People's customs would be Brauchtum.

But it is certain, that if You found "me" in the sense of "I", "me", "my", "mine" etc., this is an error.
