Tidalias:Good thinking, mia morala apogulo. I'll look into translating the first few pages of something soon, and posting it here.
Looking forward to it. What are you choosing to do?

I keep trying to decide, to no avail. Got any suggestions, oh supportive one?
Here's quite a large list of online manga to peruse: http://mangahut.com/manga/

I'd love to see 20th Century Boys done, but that's far too long to just do a few chapters of.

Yotsubato? Simple with a fairly nice-sized fanbase. Harukana Machi-E? Amazing, not on the site, and hardly known of.

Only a thought: are manga comics worthy of such effort? Perhaps translating another Tintin comic (if the publishers give permission), like Destination Moon might be more suitable?

Karny:

Never read 20th Century Boys, I'll have to check it out sometime at least. Actually, I already had a couple chapters of Yotusabto downloaded, thinking of doing it. It's pretty simple, but that means the translations would have to be pretty spot on to get the feeling across at points. I was thinking of the original Dragonball, too, but the quality of the scans I'm finding everywhere is less than stellar.

Miland:

If Esperanto truly is an international language, I think everyone's comics should have a shot at being represented in it. okulumo.gif That, and nobody gives a big one if you translate manga online, as opposed to having to get permission for something like Tintin, as you said. Which isn't to say that I wouldn't be all for doing some of it in the future. ridulo.gif
Edit: Ah, and if you happen to get permission and translate it yourself, I'd be happy to handle all the photoshop work to get it looking nice. Assuming the distribution method were the internet.

An Esperanto website with more info on Tintin in Esperanto:

I'm extremely interested in such an effort, though my own facility with Esperanto is far from being up to the task of translating anything at all complex.

Thanks for the link, Miland. ridulo.gif I'd found it a couple days ago, when searching for any downloads of the Tintin copies, though I suppose I'll have to purchase them sometime.

Glad to hear it, Frakseno. You can at least read what I finish, to see if it seems comprehensible.

I'm about 5 pages into translating/editing Yotsubato in my spare time between classes today. I'll try to work on it when I can manage to, and may have the first chapter for anyone to read through in a few days.

I'm a long-time (around 25 years) anime fan as well as European comics such as Tintin, Marsupilami, etc. Yotsubato looks like fun.
Truth be told, I'd probably benefit from some simple Mickey Mouse comics, too. [embarassed]

Can't wait.

Sometime? That sometime better be soon... but perhaps I'm just a little too fond of it. ;D
