Other than esperanto, what do you think is the easiest language to learn for an english speaker?

For an English speaker, Scotts, not to be confused with Scottish Gaelic. It's easy because it's hardly more than a dialect of English, which is cheating I suppose. I'm told German I quite easy but I never learnt it because I didn't like the sound (or the German teacher)

I was once told that the closest relative to English is Frisian. I don't know.

I've also been told that Indonesian is a very simple language to learn in that it has a small number of easily pronounced phonomes and simple grammar. Again, I've never studied so I don't really know. Maybe someone else could enlighten.

I always thought spanish was the easiest language to learn, but it does have it's irregularities.

Or perhaps latin is the easiest...

Afrikaans is pretty straight forward,

"my pen is in my hand"

is translated:

"my pen is in my hand", although it is pronounced different.

Frisian as well is a lot like English.

Tok Pisin is an English based creole spoken in Papua New Guinea. It`s fun. Check it out.

As for non-Germanic based languages, I found the basics of Bahasa Malaysia to be not too confusing.
