domestro:People, Werewolves are abuse of ... Anyway, enjoy the game, regardless of its name.
Domestro aka Hosmich
BTW: How to shorten Esperanto word "parenteze"?
I'm learning a new word, "parenteze." BTW is short for by the way. By the way is a long way to say, and. With this reasoning, I would say that a shorter word for the Esperanto word is "kaj."

Sometimes, you can say "pase". For example:

"... ekzistas tre intima rilato inter la kapablo verki kaj la kapablo kritiki, kio kondukas al temo eble ekster la nuna, sed tamen pase menciinda." Edwin De Kock. Sub fremdaj ĉieloj: poeme kaj biografie via. 2008 http://goo.gl/VlPnfr

Maybe it's my own lack of exposure to Esperanto usage, but I can't think of a case in which I would use "pase" as a shorter version of "parenteze". "Pase menciinda" is fine, but "parenteze menciinda" sounds a bit odd (but not completely wrong) to me.

Another example : I often start sentances with "Parenteze ..." (like English "by the way" ), but I wouldn't use "pase" that way.

Parenteze mi ankaŭ ludas ŝakon - sounds normal to me
Pase mi ankaŭ ludas ŝakon - sounds very strange / wrong

Maybe other people use "pase" this way?

That said I can't think of a better, shorter way to say "parenteze", especially without more context. Depending on context, there may be many cases where "pase" is a good substitute, I just can't think of one off the top of my head ridulo.gif

Just my two cents.

Amike,

Paul

OMG, dude, no! Th' other dude prefaced with "BTW: How to shorten" then the other other dude said the translated long version of op. cit. and you went with the translated meaning of by-the-way instead of another texting sorta substitute for like abbreviated words! What the guy wants is an Esperanto phone texting short for et.seq. for similar to BTW!

Ah, the dangers of having grown up in the pre-Internet/pre-SMS world ... ridulo.gif

My suggestion : PTZ

Actually, I think I'm going to start a thread on this.

Paul
