T0dd:"Verko" has two meanings according to NPIV2002:
Furthermore, it's not clear whether you mean "work" in the sense of toil, which would be LABORO, or "work" in the sense of a finished work, which would be VERKO.
1. Arta aŭ scienca produkto (as in the 'works' of the poet, writer or scientist)
2. Rezulto de agado - but, importantly, this in the figurative sense (marked by the 'f'). Used in sentences like "that was the work of those guys" (=it was due to them)
"Laboro" can be used to describe the action of working, and also the result of that work. As ReVo puts it: "Ago labori, rezulto de tia ago". So, chrisim was correct to use the word 'laboro'.
Getting back to Chrisim's actual question, I reckon we could translate his sentence like this:
"I was impressed by their work" = Min impresis ilia laboro.
If the degree of being impressed actually hit the heights of "grandioza, majesta, solena, okulfrapa", then you could say "Ilia laboro imponis min"
