Is that correct?

An animopariĝo is an action, so you can't add -in to it. You could express "soulmate" maybe as anima kunulo (add -in if you think it's really necessary, but actually this word doesn't necessarily express only male beings).

My wife died on Feb. 20th. Suddenly and without warning from a malignant brain tumor that no one knew was even there. My Son and I are reeling, broken and lost at the moment and I have been using Esperanto as a distraction, and now as a way of expression. Thank you for your help with this. It is a word that I believe I will use quite often and wanted to clarify its use.

I was thinking that parano might capture the idea of "mate" better than kunulo, which is more along the lines of "companion". So, animparano is possible. But...kunulo is well known and recognizable, and "soul companion" is probably close enough.
