There is also a rather curious use of the apostrophe in the expression Dank'al which has a meaning 'owing to', 'Thanks to'.
A very common reply to 'dankon' is 'Ne dankinde' - something like 'not at all', literally 'not worthy of thanks'.

(although I've never been there before and am not in a financial position to go visit, although a cousin has been trying to get me to visit) All I know is that the Adelaide EO group doesn't seem active at all, and haven't replied to an email asking if they are active.
Anyway, scrap what I about dankon al vi, I was actually thinking more on the lines of everything in your first sentence. I'm forgetting EO at an alarming rate
