This should show what "quality" this translation has.

erinja:I'm American and I'd never heard of a "facebook" until Facebook came out. Wikipedia informs me that a facebook is a directory of incoming students, including pictures, distributed to all incoming students so they can get to know and recognize one another. The universities I attended never did it so that's probably why I didn't know the term. Clearly not ever US university distributes a facebook.

I'd call it a photo directory myself.

When I entered college as a freshman I received such a book, and it was referred to by some as a "facebook", and I still have it.

Most people called it a "pigbook" though (don't know why!), but according to this urbandictionary.com definition that term has a denotation that I don't think was understood (or intended) back then.

Im part of the "be streetsmart on the web" and "dont do anything rprivate in public either in real life or in on the web because the web is real life now " clubs so im a user of it, and think people shouldnt be afraid of it, just know how to use it. Unfortunately in aus i think we have bigger problems for our youth eg "vi regu bieron, ne vin regu bieron!"

In my opinion fondinto is fine and you can even leave the first word as malfermita, but such use of el and ju (especially the last one) shows that the translators don't even know the basics of Esperanto.

With Fejsbuko, would you pronounce it esperante or angle?
That is, pronounced "facebook"-o or pronounced fejs-buk-o?

I sometimes heard and sometimes use the term "vizaĝaro". I like this term although most people don't understand it. So I wouldn't really recommend using it.

Indeed. Seems like someone went very quickly through a dictionary and attempted to translate for the EO community without being connected to it in any way.

I wasn't able to check fondinto before when I wrote this using some ipad (I think I'm too used to touchscreens now and the magic's worn off), but thanks for that comment about it.

Good that they didn't add "litero"! (but to use fondinto strikes me as strange - they must have been using a comprehensive dictionary to get an affixed form I guess, or maybe someone modified a once good translation and it never got picked up on).

I would probably use "Vizaĝlibro" in informal conversation, but "Facebook" (English spelling) in formal writing. In formal speech I would probably use "Fejsbuko", although I would always still spell it the English way.

I would just call it 'Facebook' as in english, because even in portuguese (my native language) i don't translate product names.
