Anyway, you may find a poster helpful to accompany your splendid exhortation. I attach a possible example.
Jokes apart, I try to help people who is interested, and tries to learn it. I am a lingvohelpanto for Spanish and English, so I can try to help as many people as possible to learn our internacian lingvon.
I am also a delegate for UEA, but in that role I can help esperantists more than other people... I try to help new people in my country also as member of our landa asocio... Some weeks ago I coordinated the purchase of several PIVs for people here in Chile (including myself)... It isn't available in the libroservo now, but people in SAT were really kind and helpful.
My coworkers know that I am an esperantists, but they didn't show any interest in learning. I don't force anyone, as that is counterproductive...
I think we have to get to all the people who can be interested, ignoring those who aren't... until we get a 'critical mass' which will make other people to get interested by themselves.
(I hope I can teach in an university some day, but our efforts until now have not succeeded here in Santiago... I understand that other Chilean esperantist will do that in an university in the south of the country).

After you have learnt the language well, then you can start to think about encouraging others to learn it.
If you do not speak it yourself, it does not do any good to try to convince others to learn it, to tell them how wonderful and easy it is.
As the famous writer Kabe said, "Esperanton plej necese devas lerni la Esperantistoj mem!" (Esperanto should be learnt, most importantly, by the Esperantists themselves)

What really attracts me to a language is culture (I'm sure many polyglots would attest). But because Esperanto is relatively neutral and does not have a culture comparable to Spain, Germany, Russia, India, China, etc., it would be difficult to draw people in.

Such a project would need money and talented, motivated people; a harder task because the pool of esperantists is smaller than certain other languages, but it's not impossible. It doesn't even need to be award winning, just popular!
Someone should do a song at Eurovision in EO, and if it's not allowed the rules should change. It would add something interesting to that contest, at least! It's got a bit dull of late with so many songs in English. Such an EO song should have lots of 'la la la' in the chorus. (the the the).

I think the main thing is basic exposure- just getting people to recognize the "Esperanto" name. This is pretty easy to do with modern resources (YouTube, Facebook, etc.). Unfortunately, free advertising these days usually means a lot of spamming, so one would have to post their videos/notes on well-visited forums.

This whole business of giving Esperanto a new public image is to my mind a matter of great urgency.
For a start perhaps we could organise a concerted attack on 'Globish' (international English as it is actually spoken).
I, for one, am fed up with hearing the ugly vowels, jarring consonants, and primitive grammar of our evergrowing immigrant population here in the UK.
And hardly a televison or radio bulletin passes without some interview with an Eksterlandano whose command of English is sorrowful.
Forget about the classic English virtues of tolerance and fairmindedness. It's time to start taking the piss - or to establish a tradition of correcting every mispronunciation, misuse of vocabulary and mangling of grammar, every time we encounter it.
Speak English or Esperanto, not Globish, should be the battle cry.
EDIT: you have a point Erinja - but I'd rather listen to broken Esperanto than broken English.

In fact every time we hear the assertion that everybody speaks English, we should correct that to:
No, quite a lot of people speak Globish, not English, and even so they can't agree among themselves on the pronunciation, nor on the grammar - at least the Esperantists have a common consensus about the correct usage of their language.
