As the topic states, what is Marĉando? I found it while reading "La venecia komercisto"

It’s a verbal root, so you should look out for marĉandi in your dictionary (and all of them should have it since it’s Fundamental).

If it doesn't show in the Lernu dictionary, a good tip is to try just putting the stem (in this case 'marĉand' ) in. You can, sometimes, get a definition where it did not work before.

According to Wells:

marĉandi = to haggle, to negotiate terms.

The Lernu dictionary gives: 'to haggle, to bargain', which seems reasonable enough.

The Lernu dictionary also contains 'marĉandado'. So, when looking for words, it's good to check out the different versions of a word - don't just type in 'marĉando' and then give up! The root is clearly 'marĉand/'. Try typing 'marĉand' in the Lernu dictionary to see what you get.

What a fail, I didn't even consider it to be a verb, the context it was in seemed like perhaps a name or something... perhaps I'm wigging out

As the topic states, what is Marĉando? I found it while reading "La venecia komercisto"
It's strangely reminiscent of French "marchand" which is another word for esperanto "komercisto".

It's not too different from the words "merchant" and "merchandise", so that may help you remember its meaning; merchants make deals, ili marĉandas!
