A Question of Scale (tre kaj -ega)

Simple enough: Which is bigger, "La tre granda domo" or "La grandega domo?"
Is there a difference (either in literal meaning or connotation)?

Por mi la du domoj estas same grandaj.

According to PMEG:
ega = fortega, intensega, ekstrema
So, that kind of sounds a bit stronger than 'tre'. However, on the same page, you also see:
domo → domego = (tre) granda domo
I think that in general '-eg-' has a more extreme meaning when compared with 'tre'.

For me the two houses are the same big.
Something that Esperanto showed me is that, in this lenguage, you can say the same idea with differents ways. And all of them are correct.

I don't have anything to add regarding the OP, being a lowly komencanto myself I don't have a feel for this either way yet.

They are just two different ways of expressing esentially the same idea. It's kind of like asking in English- "What's bigger- something that is "huge", somthing that is "very big", or something that is "enormous?"

I think there's no difference, but the word grandega is more right word than tre granda.

Well, if you translate literally, the two phrases are:

*la tre granda domo = the very large house
*la grandega domo = the gigantic house

To my ear, there is no very significant difference; both are fine, although perhaps "grandega" gives slightly more emphasis. You could even say la treege granda domo, "the extremely (exceedingly) large house", which would be a yet higher emphasis.

(This is what I like about Esperanto - there are so many opportunities to make nice shades and nuances in meaning.)

Possibly when the bigger form of something seems to fall into a different category, then the X-ego is something different to a granda X-o.

Pordego? Buŝego? Kortego? Dentego?

Saluton kolego de Vikipedio (mi estas Ĉiuĵaŭde) ! Vi pravas, sed mi preferas ke ni uzu "grandega". Skribi "tre granda" estas senutila.

Hi colleague of Wikipedia (i'm Ĉiuĵaŭde) ! You are right, but I prefer using "grandega". Writting "tre granda" isn't useful.
