Okay, I decided to go through the new course, but I'm hitting some obstacles in the sense that it is rejecting sentences that are essentially correct.

Example: there is a question: Kio estas la eŭropa mono en la jaro 2012?, to which I answered: La eŭropa mono en la jaro du mil dek du estas eŭroj.

The system refuses it and insists upon: Eŭro estas la eŭropa mono en la jaro du mil dek du.

There can't possibly be only one acceptable answer for this.

Roch:eŭroj aren't the name of a mono

Maybe, La eŭropa mono en la jaro du mil dek du estas Eŭro externalImage.png
That's just my spelling mistake here; on the course I did write "Eŭro".

You'll note that the lesson is accompanied by an audio file from the course text. I think the lesson is actually looking for a verbatim quote from the story, as the answer.

Aha. I wasn't using the audio. Right, for the rest of the course I'm going to put myself into the mindset of someone approaching Esperanto for the first time.

Btw, I noticed that there is the odd word missing in the English sentences. Is it worth reporting these to staff members?

Yes, absolutely report errors in the English! Or apply for translation rights and correct them yourself, which is also massively helpful. Traduko.lernu.net

I have translation rights, but there are some things I can't correct. For example: In lesson 4, section 19 there is a sentence 'La estas la prezidanto de Usono' which is clearly not right - La instead of Li presumably. I assume it is hidden to the translation?

erinja (Wasifu wa mtumiaji) 25 Julai 2016 11:32:11 alasiri

That's an error in the original Esperanto text, an administrator will have to correct it.

I found when I went through that section you were talking about, Vestitor, that my answer was right, but I forgot the correct punctuation. I was marked wrong and I didn't know why until someone, on the Duolingo facebook group, pointed out that I didn't put a period at the end of the sentence.
