Wells gives “komentaro” for ‘commentary’, but Benson does not. Is this a typo in Wells? Benson gives ‘komentario’, and I’m guessing this is correct, especially since it is supported by the online PIV.

Universala Votraro enhavas nur radikon
komentari' commenter | comment (verb) | erläutern, commentiren | комментировать | komentować.

Do laŭ la reguloj de vortfarado devus esti:
komentario por 'comment' (noun), kaj
komentariaro por 'commentary'.

Sed ankaŭ la radiko koment' estas nun.
Tial oni uzas komento-n por 'comment' kaj komentaro-n por 'commentary'.

Andrew McLinen's dictionary also give komentario for commentary but I take Frano's point above.
If there is a root komment- then komentaro would be the obvious translation, in the same way vort- would give vortaro.
Just a thought! Donald
