How to say, "I thought it was strange"?

Would these work?

"Mi pensis ke ĝi estis stranga."
"Mi pensis ke ĝi strangis."

And how would one say "It was blue, which I thought was strange."?

I doubt it would be: "Ĝi estis blua, kiu mi pensis estis stranga."

be aware of the need of the accusative.


!!! Ĝi estis blua, kiu mi pensis estis stranga.

Kiu(n) means, that "ĝi" estis stranga. "Kion" means, that "Gi estis blua" estis stranga.

Dankon al thyrolf por la klarigo de la diferenco inter "kiun" kaj "kion".

Yes, the difference between -iu and -io in certain cases is difficult for me to grasp. It seems to serve multiple purposes as well.

I had learned that you do either "strangas" or "estas stranga", so I was unsure whether "kion mi pensis stranga" was permissible. Would "mi pensis kion stranga" be the same? Or would it be in this case that you would have to make it "estis stranga" to be correct?

If you don't use a subject, say "estas strange". With a subject it will be "tio estas stranga".
In a question put a question word first: "Kion mi pensis stranga?".
Frazo "Mi pensis kion stranga" estas stranga por mi.

"Ĝi estis blua, kiu mi pensis estis stranga." was not supposed to be a question.

Perhaps it should be "Ĝi estis blua. Mi opinias tio estis stranga.".

Does that make more sense?

Ĝi estis blua, kion mi pensis esti stranga
(-> stranga estis la fakto ke "gi estis blua")

Ĝi estus blua, kiun mi pensis esti stranga
(-> stranga estis la koloro)

But I think Tsahraf means something more like (stranga estis la fakto ke "gi estis blua") than the alternative.

So,

A) opinii, ne pensi?
B) tion, ne kion?
