Senlando:we're at 80%! I to have been having a hard time diciding what is a good translation for "relationship status" and "single". any suggetions, that can help me with my voting?
Yes, those are tricky... Personally, I think the best solutions are "Amrilata stato" and the simple "sola" respectively.

Just hazarding a couple of beginner's guesses...

Relationship Status = Tipo de Interrilato or Kondiĉo de Interrilato (Interrilata Tipo? Interrilata Kondiĉo?)
Single = Needziĝata?

How about "senkunula" (i.e., "without companion") for "single"? It seems to me to be about right in terms of the various shades of meaning that one can impart to the term.

The dictionary on this website lists a word, "Fraŭla" for "single" or "unmarried". It seems to mean "Bachelor"-ish from a word derived by backwards etymology from "Fraŭlein" (or something like that) in German (as if Fraŭlino were the Esperanto transcription of Fraŭlein, and therefore there's a masculine form "fraŭlo").
Despite my circuitous explanation, it seems a fairly straight-forward term for "single". I recommend that.

Fraŭla and needziĝata don't work because they mean unmarried, whereas "single" means not in any kind of romantic relationship.

Senkunula would be a good translation for "single", but then we would really need to have "kunula" as the translation for "in a relationship". This was my suggestions, but it got voted down quite heavily...

If you follow the logic used in the construction of "senkunula", then the adjectival form of "in a relationship" would be translated as "kunkunula" ("with companion").

"Kunula" by itself just means to be like a companion (in quality), but not necessarily to have one.

What's wrong with "sola" "en amrilato" "edziĝinta"? Just curious ridulo.gif

Lots of people voting down sensible answers.

I'm ok with any of them. I just offered the term that occurred to me.

I think a problem with this kind of translation into Esperanto is that because you can create words so freely, it's easy to come up with loads of different translations that are all valid, so it's hard to reach a consensus.
