Most verbs have a subject, but I think you wanted to ask why it has an object.
The object (nian geedziĝon) belongs to okazigi.
klopodi is followed by the infinitive form of a verb (okazigi), that's often possible for intransitive verbs, f.e.:
ĉesi legi la forumon
You can even use 2 intransitive verbs here:
Mi ĉesos klopodi legi la forumon.
