Some words in Esperanto may bear similarities to existing English words with different meanings.

Here are some of my own experience:

Farti (eng: to fart) ~ Definitely the most notorious ridego.gif

demandi (to demand) *Get confused each timelango.gif.. Should'v meant " to ask"
pensi (penis, pants, panties)
familia (familiar)
almenaŭ (almost)
stari (star, to stare)
biro (beer)
nodi (to node)
ŝnuro (snore)
faka (fake)
baldaŭ (bald)
dum (doom, dumb, drum)
sed (seed)
bani (bunny)
varma (warm) ::Not the same!!
trista (Tristan, from Yugioh!)
kurta (court, curtain)
for (for)
manki (monkey)
drinki (to drink)

So what? Should Esperanto be changed? I don't care if any esperanto word confuses the English. It is enough that English is confusing my own language.

Who said anything about changing..? lango.gif

Add "kontroli" to the list.

Would you check if my translation is correct?
Ĉu vi bonvolve kontrolos mian tradukon?

It is quite usual when you learn a foreign language that you encounter false friends. English is no exception here.

nova --- Spanish no va - doesn't function
koro --- Polish kora - bark
lustro --- Polish - lustro - mirror

and so on.

What is more interesting are esperanto words that are confusing for esperantists themselves:

eraro --- er + aro - many, many small objects
kolego --- kol + ego - very big neck
kulero --- kul + ero - small part of a mosquito
...

Could you please give us an example of such confusion? Words like these are indispensable in wordplay and wordplay is great fun, but confusing?

I was joking, don't you see that? Reductio ad absurdum.
