who knows a good (i.e. poetic) translation of the above mentioned Latin phrase in Esperanto?

It may interest you to learn that Seneca's actual words were "Non vitae sed scholae discimus" - which is pretty much the opposite of your version! (He wasn't necessarily saying that we should be learning for the lecture hall rather than for life, just that in practice it was (is?) the status quo.)

But anyway: I'd translate it as, "Ni lernas ne vivocele sed lernejocele."
