can someone explain listen to me please? I mean the word itself in Esperanto. Maybe I'm just confused but it doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for the help in advanced.

Ĉu vi aŭskultis la paroladon
Did you listen to the speech

Mi aŭskultas la paroladon
I am listening to the speech

Ĉu vi aŭskultos la paroladon
Will you listen to the speech

Mi aŭskultus la paroladon
I would listen to the speech

Aŭskultu la paroladon
Listen to the speech

Mi volas aŭskulti la paroladon
I want to listen to the speech

Alkanadi:Ĉu vi aŭskultis la parolado
Did you listen to the speech
I didn't quite understand the question, but Alkanadi's answer gives six wrong sentences.

It should be

Ĉu vi aŭskultis la paroladon?

and so on.

Would it be wrong to say al in this instance? Like...
Aŭskultu al mi -- Listen to me.

Aŭskultu al mi -- Listen to me.
Think of auxskulti as "to listen to" as well as "listen", so no "al" is needed.

The "al" would not be required, if the accusative is used:

-> Aŭskultu min.

However, a preposition would be required if the accusative is not used.

-> Aŭskultu al mi.
-> Aŭskultu je mi.

When using it as a transitive verb "to listen to _____", you need the accusative. Otherwise you can use a preposition if you want, but it doesn't make as much sense IMHO.
