Anime fans aren't easy to find in the Esperanto community, but I am one of them.

And I can't be the only one, right? I know there are other Esperantist anime fans out there! Personally, I like Code Geass and Death Note, but if you know any other good ones, let me know.

Yeah, so I am. The point is though, Lernu is not the perfect place to discuss about anime, you know, unless it's somehow related to Esperanto study. For instance, we'd made effort to translate mangas into Esperanto (You can find it here).

Of cours, anime, being so universally popular can be a great media to publicize Esperanto, but so far I haven't found out how and am still working on my own Eo study.

Actually here there seems to be a nice healthy number of anime fans, at least in my experience okulumo.gif

On ways to use Anime and Esperanto together, I've had the idea of doing fan dubs but the biggest problems so far have been software, equipment, time and lack of esperantists living nearby.

Another problem is that I, being a lad, would find it very hard to fan-dub half of my favourite animes because of the sheer amounts of female cast members. There goes my dream of dubbing k-on lango.gif (except for when Ritsu does her male voice impersonations)

Mio: "Ne! Mi ne volas kanti, mi tro multe timas!"
Ritsu: "Hej, vi bezonas malzorgi"
Yui: "Ritĉan! Mi trovis cent-enan moneron tie!"
Ritsu: "hej hej, vi bezonas zorgi..."

I also like anime/manga, but I haven't really been keeping up to date on them.
Seeing fandubs inspires me to attempt to do the same sometimes, but I think I'm too much of a beginner of Esperanto for that. Heh.

I just made this fandub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKL_PbyQx60 although it doesn't have a lot of talking in it.

gyrus: Great! Waiting for more ridulo.gif

Brilliant gyrus lango.gif Although it's definitely different when you've heard "kira"s (trying to minimise spoilers okulumo.gif) voice in the original Japanese. But still brilliant even if I'm now scared of your excellent menacing laugh rido.gif

That is pretty good, gyrus. A quick Esperanto spin on one of the best scenes in anime history.

I found this somehow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY2wF_EEaV0. It's a beautiful song, despite errors in pronunciation and subbing.

I agree that anime could be a really effective medium for Esperanto. Aside from Aria and La Esperanza, there haven't been many collaborations between the international language and anime (or manga).
