Glaseto da vino plibonigas patrinon.

Are there more elegant ways to say this?

Is the meaning you are after, that a glass of wine makes you a more good-humoured, tolerant parent, or that it enables you to put up with your mother?

Usually in the Zamenhofian proverbs there is some rhyming or alliteration.

iom da vino, pli bona la patrino

Vino en la sango, pli indulga la lango

Ah, well, my intention was to say that a glass of wine makes a mother feel better, and at the same time makes her a better mother.

And there WAS a rhyme there until I remembered my grammar and put the N-ending on "patrino". Sigh. So, I guess your first suggestion is closest to what I was trying to get at. Thanks. I have much to learn.
