Is the following Espanto translation correct for the sentence: "Please listen and try to understand the following dialog/conversation." ?

Eo: Bonvolu aŭskultu kaj provu kompreni la sekvantan dialogon/interparoladon.

i understand, i don't know if its the standard way of saying it, but the way i format esperanto is the same way i'd do it in english, i call it engliranto lol

Since bonvolu is already a verb, it needs to be followed by an infinitive: bonvolu aŭskulti kaj provi.

edit: also, sekva is better than sekvanta.

darkweasel:Since bonvolu is already a verb, it needs to be followed by an infinitive: bonvolu aŭskulti kaj provi.
But is the rest of it correct?

Or, how about: Aŭskultu kaj provu kompreni la sekvantan dialogon/interparoladon, mi petas.

I would use bonvolu because I think it is more polite. Bonvolu aŭskulti kaj provi. Insteand of sekvantan, I would use sekvan or sekvontan (because it will come). However, I may be wrong.

There are a number of verbs in Esperanto that can be translations of 'try'. Provi has the nuance of giving something a try, or putting it to the test.

This might be appropriate, or you might like to use peni (make an effort, endeavour)

Bonvolu aŭskulti kaj penu kompreni la sekvontan konversacion.

EDit: having politely asked you to listen, I don't think one needs to obsequious and apply the bonvolu to the trying. A simple instruction seems adequate.

Don't forget you can say stuff like

Bonvole aŭskultu kaj penu kompreni tion, kion mi prezentas
Bonvole aŭskultu kaj penu kompreni la jenon

ktp...

i call it Engliranto lol
Shouldn't it be called Esperanglo, or la esperangla?

Myself, I'm a bit of an expert in la frangla (franglais).

And let’s not forget about Esperañol. lango.gif
