Hi, I have just started with Gerda Malaperis and the first sentence says : En universitata restoracio

How come the word for university ends in -a? I thought that was for adjectives or is that word in this sentence an adjective?

Regards,

Fredrik

It's an adjective.

We're talking about a restaurant. What kind of restaurant is it? A university restaurant.

Nouns may not modify nouns, so it could not be universitato restoracio

Nouns can modify nouns provided that they're a compund word, right?
Except universitatrestoracio is an extremely long word.

En Esperanto kombinoj kiel Esperanto-kongreso, Membro-abonanto, Urbodomo, Bushaltejo ktp estas permesataj.

Sed oni ne skribas X-o Y-o (du vortojn). Do ne skribu Universitato restoracio.

Se mi vidus 'Universitato-restoracio' mi emus kompreni ĝin kvazaŭ restoracion kiu funkcias iele kiel universitato pli ol universitan restoracion
