Я вспомнил, что (я) (не) закрыл дверь.
Mi rememoris, ke mi (ne) ŝlosis la pordon.
I have remembered that I have (not) locked the door

Без 'что' никак - oni ne povas diri ĉi tion sen 'что' ('ke' ) - they cannot say it without 'что' ('what' )

First another question: Is there a difference between memori and rememori? Isn't the re redundant in this case?

And regarding my original question: "Sometimes I remember to do that."

I mean it in the sense of, for example, "I know I should eat breakfast every morning. Sometimes I remember to do that." (Though usually I don't.)

Rememori is to remember again. Sometimes you remember something more than once!

Mi scias, ke (mi devas matenmanĝi|mi matenmanĝu|necesas matenmanĝi) ĉiumatene. (Iam|Iufoje|Kelkfoje) mi rememoras, ke mi faru tion (aŭ oni memor(ig)as al mi fari tion).
memori - put to memory and keep there, as a file in the computer.
rememori - get from memory, as if you accidentally found the file in the computer.
forgesi - forget, as if you delete the file. But you can get it back from the trash.

In Esperanto the prefix re- has both the meaning of 'back' as in I gave back the money I borrowed (mi redonis la monon) and the meaning of 'repeat' as in retake the test (refari la teston).

Sometimes it is a bit imponderable as to which meaning applies.

Rememori could be to remember again or to recall a memory. And this distinction is a fine one.

The PIV definition of rememori seems to call on both meanings - reveki, prezenti denove al si en la menso. Rememorigi is (helpfully!) defined as memorigi.

In the case of remembering to lock the door as opposed to forgetting to lock the door, I would use memori.

But to translate 'that reminds me of the time when I forgot to lock the door and ..', I might use rememorigi

Thanks all!

For what it's worth the Lernu! Eo-English dictionary has the exact same definition for both memori (to remember, to recollect, to recall) and rememori (to recall, to remember, to recollect).

It lists rememorigi = to recall, and memorigi = to remind.

I don't know the root "necer". Maybe you meant "neces"?

Necesas lavi la plankon. = It is necessary to wash the floor.
Estas necese lavi la plankon. = It is necessary to wash the floor.
Lavu la plankon. = Wash the floor. (imperative, jussive)

Let they wash the floor!
