The esperanto dictionary says:

to dwell = loĝi

www.dictionary.com explains "to dwell" as:

"to live or continue in a given condition or state: to dwell in happiness."

What would be the best esperanto translation?

What about 'rezidi'?

Depends, since "dwell" has a bit more meaning than that. The rawest form of "dwell" is basically Esperanto "loĝi", but if you meant "to dwell on that moment", then "loĝi" (to live in/on/at a place) wouldn't work at all.

The few times I found the English word "dweller", I thought its meaning was actually closer to the Esperanto word '-emulo'. Night-dweller, cave-dweller, etc. How else would you, native speakers, translate that?

Edit: after having thought about it a bit more, I understand that -emulo is not proper. I would then drop the 'dweller' and just say "kaverna", "nokta", etc.

Dankon por la respondoj.
Mi pensas ke "rezidi" ja taŭgas.

Thanks for the replies.
I think "rezidi" might be a good translation.

You need context for translating a word like this, which reveals in what sense you wish to use it. Different verbs could be suitable for being at an address (rezidi), living or staying somewhere (loĝi), or remaining in a certain state, which need not be a physical place (resti).

ReVo says for loĝi: Daŭre restadi en loko, kie oni kutime vivadas.

Stay at the location, where someones normaly lives(?).

Isn't dwell another word for 'live'? And when you dwell on something, the word is being used as a metaphor, comparing your dwelling on a topic to living all-encompassed with that topic.

Can't loĝi be used metaphorically? But I'm sure other words like resti are more appropriate in general..
