I'd say "hejmbieni" - to have a farm at home, as suggested by RiotNrrd.

Not neceserly a farm, could be a big garden or wood for making an independent living.

The word "hejm" already suggests to me the idea of doing something on a smaller scale than a full-scale farm.

But you could say "hejmbieneto" or "hejmbieneti" to emphasize the small scale of the endeavour, if you wished.
