Is this correct?

Devi - To require something.
Bezoni - To desperately need something.

Devi - must, to have to
Bezoni - to need

Alkanadi:Is this correct?
Nope. Devi carries some sense of obligation or necessity. Its English counterparts are most closely must and to have to.

Bezoni is simply to need or to require.

Just to check, would these sentences be correct?

Oni devas iri al laboro akurate
Oni bezonas aeron por spiri

What is the difference between "necesi" and "bezoni"?
Example:
Mi necesas akvon por trinki.
or
Mi bezonas akvon por trinki.

Necesi is not 'need' it is necessary.

Mi bezonas akvon = I need water.

Akvo estas necesi por vivo = Water is necessary to life. (or is that necese/a?)

manfazil (User's profile) August 10, 2015, 1:13:18 PM

Ok. So the last sentence can be also "Akvo necesas por vivo".

Yes.

or
Mi bezonas akvon por trinki.
"Necesi" means "to be necessary". The first sentence is incorrect.

"Akvo estas necesa" or "Akvo necesas". Bezoni is transitive and necesi is intransitive.

"Akvo estas necesi" would mean "water is the act of being necessary".

Also possible: "Mi bezonas akvon trinki" without "por".
