RiotNrrd:po..I remember it thus:
A, B, kaj C ricevis po unu pomo.
Another way to think of it is "apiece" but appearing before the number expressing the price, or rate, instead of after:
"These apples cost 50 cents apiece."
Ĉi tiuj pomoj kostas po kvindek cendoj.
Don Harlow's site on the "16 rules" has more examples.

I normally translate "po" as "at a rate of".

E.g. PIV2002 defines "spekti" as "atenti per la vido kaj aŭdo tion, kio estas prezentata: spekti filmon, operon, teatraĵon, baleton, sportan festivalon". I.e. attentively watching some presentation. (Think "spectator".)
PIV2002 defines "rigardi" as "uzi sian vidsenson en iu direkto" ktp. I.e. it's more generally looking at anything at all, possibly just a short glance, possibly looking at something that's not doing anything particularly interesting.
