For expressions such as "Dat ass!" (That ass!), I guess it's "Tiun pugon" rather than "Tiu pugo" because it's a shortened form of "Mi ŝatas tiun pugon!".

Is this right?

I always interpreted it as "DAT ASS is (good adjective)".

I've heard "Kia [substantivo]" used in a manner that might be applicable here.

I think this is more in the spirit of the expression. It's kind of like "Such an ass", or "What an ass"

So now, the question is of whether "pugo" means "ass" like "contemptible person" or "butt".
It can only mean the latter, right?

It's your rear end.

That doesn't necessarily stop anyone from using it in a figurative sense, however, but that's true of any word. So, y'know, someone always could use it somewhat more descriptively. But I have never heard it used in that manner, referring to a contemptible person.

Yeah, "pugo" only refers to your bottom. ridulo.gif

A positive vernacular expression used when one sees the buttocks of another (from the Urban Dictionary}.

In that case kia bela pugo!

Yeah, but that still doesn't have "Dat ass!"'s . . . elegance.
It feels weird calling such a silly phrase elegant.

I guess you could shorten it to Kia pugo. I guess this is like the Spanish Que culo.
