Okay, I'm trying out what I'm learning about compounded words. I wish to express, "This evening is the costume party with a Wild West theme." How's this? Ĉi-vespere estos la kostum-festo kun sovaĝ-okcidenta temo. (Or would I perhaps use de instead?)

Thanks again!

festo

Feto is something else entirely.

Other than that minor, and even kind of weirdly funny, detail, that's more or less how I'd write the sentence. I'd actually drop the hyphens everywhere except ĉi-vespere (kostumfesto, sovaĝokcidenta), but that's a stylistic choice on my part - your way is not wrong, nor is my way necessarily preferable.

I'd translate wild West as vakera - cowboy. I am not sure por sovaĝa okcidenta really translates well if someone doesn't know the English expression.

Ah, the wonderful effect of an "s" left out. ridulo.gif Thanks for noting that. I corrected it. Erinja's suggestion of using vakera to describe the theme certainly makes sense, too. This language is so much fun!

How about frontiera temo? How do other languages name Westerns?
