Hey, how would you say that a machine "short-circuited" in esperanto? Would you just use the word for 'died'? Or is there a more specific term?

Kurta cirkvito?

Do, "la maŝino malfunkciiĝis pro kurta cirkvito"?

elektra fuŝa arko <-- elektra fuŝ-arko
elektra detrua arko <-- elektra detru-arko
elektra salta arko <-- elektra salt-arko

La komputilo havis elektran detru-arkon

I would just use the word rompi because it is simpler. I prefer simplicity.

Better than my ideas since there is already a wiki on it.

Russian короткое замыкание, Spanish and Italian cortocircuito, German Elektrischer Kortschluss ...

I think mallonga cirkvito works, as this is a set phrase in many languages. The problem then is, how to use it verbally. My first instinct is something like La mashino suferis de mallonga cirkvito.

There is the transitive verb kurtcirkviti in PIV, from which the instransitive kurtcirkvitiĝi can be derived.
La maŝino kurtcirkvitiĝis.

Thanks, I didn't think to check in PIV. I guess I am hesitant to use the root kurt-, though "mallong-" is rather a mouthful here.
