Zafur:Actually, it is real American English. The context is: "He lived at peace with himself and the world because he was in tune: he practiced what he preached. He lived his beliefs. He could die with a good conscience." In German we say, somone is round with himself.Evildela:I think it means something along "he knows himself well" or has achieved inner peace.
