Mendacapote:
Mi esperantigxetis dum nur semajne.
Mi esperantigxetis dum nur unu semajno.
Hmm, Esperantigxetis...

Esperant'iĝ'et'is

How does the 'iĝ' work with 'Esperanto' in this instance?

Can you explain this one a little bit?

Esperant/igi: Translating something into Esperanto. Sometimes it means teaching Esperanto.
Esperant/iĝi: Studying Esperanto, Becoming an Esperantisto by your own effort.
Esperanti/iĝ/et/i: To study just a little bit of Esperanto… far from becoming an Esperantisto… yet. okulumo.gif

dragonsgift: I was trying .. to express that A) I began studying a week ago, and B) After a little study I learned a great deal.
What is the best and most concise way to express that?
One way may be

'Ekstudinte Esperanton antaux semajnon, mi jam lernis multe.'

But personally, I think that user-friendly clarity is more important than a clever attempt to compress everything as much as possible, so I might prefer

'Mi komencis studi Esperanton antaux unu semajnon, kaj jam lernis multe.'

In other words, the best way may not always be the most concise.

Miland:'Ekstudinte Esperanton antaŭ semajnon, mi jam lernis multe.'
(antaŭ semajno).

(antaŭ semajno).
Of course, antaŭ is already a preposition, thanks.

Nur semajnas mia ekstudado Esperanta, sed jam multas mia lerno.

I'm sure it would be possible to translate this into proper English, but I can't really come up with something even remotely litteral, so I'll pass...
