How good (or "correct") is language in Vikipedio?

Can it be taken as a model, or an authoritative source (sort of: this is the word in Vikipedio, so thats it), or as material to learn?

Thank you.

Anyone can edit Vikipedio, so it should NEVER be used as an authoritative source. However, I do believe that it can be used to learn to understand written Esperanto.

As darkweasel said, it can't be used as an authoritative source: I've made edits myself and my esperanto grammar is terrible! lango.gif

In general it's okay, but certain neologisms like far, ŝli, and -iĉ- appear occasionally. Like Wikipedia in general it's probably good as a starting point for research, but not as the only source you use.

Absolutely yes. Yes yes and yes! It's THE reference, particulary this wikipedia page

Yes, Frankouche, this is a very high quality source of information about Esperanto.

It has been pointed out several times that there is a frightening similarity between Wikipedia and the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

(OT: What is Esperanto for 'Kitten Huffing', it was mentioned in the Uncyclopedia article & I just have to know okulumo.gif )

You might try katidenspirado.

Some articles have excellent Esperanto, many articles have at least a few minor language errors, and some articles are written by enthusiastic beginners who make many mistakes, often multiple mistakes in every sentence. Don't use Vikipedio as a model of good Esperanto. There are many better sources of good Esperanto text to learn from.

No way to tell them apart (for those of us not linguistically competent enough)? Can you pin down say a collection of good writers and trace their articles? Sorry my dumb questions, never been into wiking apart from just using them occasionally.
