I know in Germanic languages they use -ung or -ing whereas in Romance they use -ando so i've really been wondering which Zamenhoff chose.
And also, (completely unrelated topic) I was wondering if most of the esperantists are only anglophones? In the forum there are MANY more posts in english than in any other languages...i was just wondering whatever happened to converting Europe

yeah, i don't know why, but now there's much more esperantists from US than before, anyone know why? there's some propaganda about esperanto in US?

"The running dog is brown"
"La kuranta hundo estas bruna"
"While walking to the store, I saw a dog"
"Promenante al la vendejo, mi vidis hundon"
"I like walking"
"Mi sxatas promenadon"

Most of them have a native language other than English. As far as Americans are concerned, they're a very small percentage of Esperanto speakers in general. Why is the English forum so active? I have no idea, maybe English speakers are more argumentative?
But English speakers make up a disproportionate number of users of lernu!, disproportionate to the number of actual Esperanto speakers whose native language is English. Personally, I think that's because this is a website, and the English speaking world has both lots of people, and lots of people who have computers. Whereas, for example, in Brazil the Esperanto movement is rapidly growing and there are lots of Esperanto speakers (perhaps more than in the English-speaking world, though I really don't know), but fewer people probably have internet connections than in the English speaking world, both in number and in percentage.

It may be as in my case the posters do not have a great knowledge of Esperanto, and the persons native language is not in the remaining five on Lernu.
I will be posting in Eo when I have enough knowledge to do so, but until then I will post in English with the hope that it will be readable by as many people as posible.
They do say english is the most used language on the net, but hay as Erinja said it may be the the English speakers are more argumentative

But sometimes I wish I was Latvian. Dont know why, it just sounds cool
