In English, "ask the same question" sounds fine but in Esperanto "demandi la saman demandon" just sounds redundant.

Is there a better way to say this? Or is it OK?

robbkvasnak (Kwerekana umwidondoro) 20 Rusama 2013 20:21:09

Demandi denove la saman - that does it in Esperanto. We cannot expect a verbatim translation from one language to another, but if you want to you can use the verb "starigi" as in "Starigi denove la saman demandon".

EnricBaltasar (Kwerekana umwidondoro) 20 Rusama 2013 21:41:58

I propose "fari la saman demandon" and "demandi la saman aferon".

efilzeo (Kwerekana umwidondoro) 20 Rusama 2013 21:59:08

Demandu la samon.

Demandu ĝin denove.

If you're looking for a more or less word-for-word translation then "fari la saman demandon" is perfectly fine, though of course there are other ways of putting it.. of which I would probably use "demandi la samon".

Tjeri (Kwerekana umwidondoro) 21 Rusama 2013 05:20:57

I would probably say rediri la demandon

Yes, starigi and fari can be used to avoid repeating demand/. Or you can say meti la saman demandon.
